This shoot was so much fun. And so exhausting! But mainly so much fun.
I wasn’t exactly sure how I wanted it to look, but I knew I wanted an arrow and candy hearts. Well, I made the mistake of giving them the candy hearts before the session, so I only got a few pictures with those. And we almost didn’t have an arrow, because well, they aren’t easy to make. But after super-gluing my fingers together, I had an arrow!
I’m not kidding you, I had a smile on my face the whole time I was editing these pictures (and a few tears at one point. shhhh!
) I totally get why the Lord tells us to come to Him with faith like a child. Children are so innocent, and so simple. They don’t over-think things. They trust. They listen.
Not only should we have faith like children, but we should love like them too. I’ve heard a lot of people say that love is a word that’s just tossed around, and it should be used carefully. Frankly, I think that’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard. Love is something that you can’t give enough of. The Bible even says to try to outdo one another in showing honor!
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. -1 John 4:7
This Valentine’s Day I encourage you to try to outdo one another in showing love. It’s not always easy to love, I know, but it’s so rewarding.
John asked me what sweet pea was. I told him it’s what you call someone you love. After squealing “ewwwww” in unison, Julia replied “so that’s why Pop calls Memaw ‘Sugar!’ Because he loves her!”
We had to take a break to dry up Ju’s tears.
If these last few pictures don’t melt your heart, I don’t know what will.

I could go on and on about how much I love these pictures. I definitely think I will get them made into a book. I may need your help on that, Rachel.
For some reason, your thing about them sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g keeps making me think of them as 3 “J” Birds. Get it? Because each of their names starts with “J”? And theyr’e in a tree…like birds.
Oh, Rachel, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love these. And, your blog – it perfectly filled in the details that couldn’t be communicated with pictures.
You talked about the innocence and simplicity of childhood, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone do a better job than this of capturing that.
I will look at all these at least 3 more times before I go to bed tonight.
Rachel, I’ve never written on one of these before. I don’t even know the words to tell you how proud I am of you. The pictures are amazing. Such talent! I also loved all you had to say. Your are going to be a wonderful mom. You just keep up all the good work, you have a great future ahead of you.
Rachel: Pictures are clear, centered and very professional looking. Good luck.
