Lilah’s Birth Story

I’ve said it before, but photographing births really could be my absolute favorite thing to shoot. Every single time I leave the hospital I feel giddy and my heart is always overwhelmed. And if I’m being totally honest, I feel so legit, especially for c-sections, when I get to suit up with dad and go into the OR. Any other photographers feel like a boss when you go back there??

This time was no different. I’ve shot at least a dozen births at The Birth Place at Highland in Shreveport, and I could never say enough great things about this hospital. They are family-oriented, and always so supportive of having a photographer in the room. So cool.

Brooke had to schedule her c-section earlier than she planned, and I’m so glad I was able to be there for Lilah’s birth. And I’m so glad to have flexible clients willing to reschedule for me to be there!

Keelan and Thatcher were so excited for Lilah to get here, and I’ve never seen brothers wear their big brother shirts prouder than these two, and they couldn’t wait for mama to bring them their baby “seester.”

Enjoy a few of my favorite images from this sweet sweet day.

I swear I’ve looked at these pictures 50 times. I love them so much. I never even felt like you were taking them if that makes sense. Like I never felt uncomfortable or like I had to pose or anything. They just felt so natural and they look so natural. I love that. I’ll never be able to repay you for all the moments you’ve already captured for me. They’re so special to me.
