I met Sadie & Derek a few years ago after Sadie emailed me about shooting their wedding, and at the time we had no idea that her cousin was married to one of my best friend’s. 🙂
Their wedding was one of my favorites for so many reasons. Not only was it beautiful to photograph, but Sadie values photos so much. It’s hard to put into words the connection that I immediately feel with clients that not only respect and trust me as a photographer, but that love pictures SO much.
Since then Sadie has become a dear friend, and when I found out she was pregnant, well, you probably already know I was so elated. Fast forward a few months to a sunny Saturday morning. I’d just gotten home from yoga, and I got a text from Derek that said “I just wanted to see if you would be available for birth pictures this weekend.” I called him immediately and asked him for who, because Sadie wasn’t due for another 10 weeks.
It was, in fact, for Sadie and her c-section was scheduled for 2 hours from the time he called. As fate would have it, the hospital was about 2 hours from my house. I rearranged a shoot I had scheduled, flew (not literally. Well, maybe kind of literally, haha) to Monroe and minutes from the hospital got held up in a 30 minute traffic delay. Y’all, I literally could have gotten out and walked to the hospital. I missed her birth by minutes, and cried in my car. Haha but guess what? Life happens, and that’s ok.
She was less than 3 lbs at birth, spent 46 days in the Nicu, and now she’s home and over 5 lbs! I have goosebumps just thinking about it. God is so faithful, and modern medicine is just the coolest.
She came home to two really excited big brothers. I love babies, but you guys already know that I love four-legged siblings maybe just as much! 😉 Ok, enough talking!
Enjoy my session with the dramatic, sassy, feisty, and so. dang. cute. Merritt! Love her. Love her family. Love her furry brothers.
